Event Details

Women and men are impacted differently by climate change and can contribute in different ways to solving the challenges at hand. With this notion the Nordic countries and the Nordic Council of Ministers have played a key role in raising and maintaining gender equality as a fundamental issue regarding climate change. Set on this topic, the Council and Worldwatch Institute together with the Swedish Embassy have invited key role thinkers for a seminar discussion focusing both on the developing world, the US and northern Europe.

The side event will go behind the scenes of the Nordic Cool festival and focus on how the New Nordic Food initiative has managed to be a driver for sustainable change, taking into consideration the challenges of gender equality, climate change impacts and maintaining biodiversity.

Among the speakers: Sweden’s Minister for Rural Affairs  Eskil Erlandsson, Robert Engelman, President of Worldwatch Institute, and June Russell of GreenMarket, Grow NYC.

At the conclusion of the seminar, participants will be offered a tasting of biodiversity arranged by the Danish chef/food writer Trine Hahnemann and the Swedish chef Frida Johansson, private Chef to the Ambassador of Sweden.
